Blessing for joy

**for the second week of Advent

It’s difficult to choose joy this year.
If you’re like me, you have to search for it,
Like a star far away
Eyes fixed on a pinprick of light
Amidst the darkness.

Yes, the joy mixes with sorrow,
Fear, anxiety, floundering lack of control.

What brings you joy this year?
For me, it’s:
Fresh citrus plucked from the tree
Sunsets that turn the mountains gold
The cat that sleeps in my lap while I work
Laughing a lot with housemates
Precious moments of solitude with the Savior.

So as the Wise Men, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph
Did so long ago,
May we seek joy
And worship the King of Kings.
